Strawberry mocktails in glasses garnished with a cocktail umbrella, lime wheel and a strawberry.

Why I love this strawberry mocktail

Ok. I have to admit something. I just had my first Moscow mule last month. I know. I’m a little late to the party with this seemingly trendy drink. But, you’ll have to give me a break. I spent the last year unable to imbibe, and I promise you, I do love ginger beer. In fact, I made a really good cocktail with it forever ago.

Anyway, my sister bought a case of it a few weeks ago, and thoughts of mocktails instantly popped into my head. That’s how the strawberry mocktail mule was born, and it’s oh-so-good. The lime and the ginger give it a nice bite/kick and the strawberry puree sweetens it up just enough, without overpowering the ginger.

Ingredient notes

  • Strawberries – We used frozen, unsweetened strawberries for the strawberry puree, and fresh strawberries to garnish.
  • Ginger beer – I like the spicy bite that ginger beer adds to this drink, and it’s traditional in a mule. If it’s too much for you, feel free to use ginger ale.
  • Lime juice – Fresh squeezed is always best, especially when it’s a main ingredient in your drink. If you’re in a pinch, bottled would be ok. Just make sure it’s as fresh as possible.
  • Club soda – This is sort of optional, but I like it for this drink since we aren’t adding vodka or other spirits. It also cuts the sweetness a bit. If you prefer to leave it out, you can or feel free to use additional ginger beer.

Making changes to a recipe can result in recipe failure. Any substitutions listed below are simple changes that I believe will work in this recipe, but results are not guaranteed.

How to make strawberry puree for drinks

I made a strawberry puree from a bag of frozen strawberries, and I put into a squeeze bottle. It’s a trick they used at a restaurant I worked at forever ago. It makes it really easy to “pour” and you don’t have to make a mess with spoons or lids or any of that no-fun stuff. The rest is really just a matter of pouring and stirring.

Note: this recipe is for 1 drink, but you should get enough for at least 6 with a small batch of puree.

Sounds good but the nutrition is all off for something like this. As a type 1 diabetic who is currently pregnant, I rely on nutrition info A LOT and if I didn’t know better, I would trust your info. But the strawberries and ginger beer definitely have carbs/calories/sugar in them. I’d either remove or revise that section so it’s not misleading.

You’re right! It was auto generated when I changed recipe formats and it hasn’t been updated yet! I’ll be sure to get to it as soon as possible.

Simple Syrup is mentioned multiple times within the text but is nowhere to be found in the recipe. Is there supposed to be simple syrup in this mocktail or not?

    1. Melissa Belanger says:

It should have said strawberry purée or strawberry syrup, I apologize for the confusion!
