NO BAKE Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites

Why I love these chocolate peanut butter pretzel bites

Now, I’m not one to love the chocolate peanut butter combo, but something about the saltiness and the crunch of the pretzels makes these little guys unbelievably good – almost addictive.

They’re the perfect last-minute recipe because they require only 5 ingredients and very little time. Plus, if you cut them up into small bite-sized pieces like we did, you don’t even have to count the calories.

Ingredient notes:

  • Butter – Since originally writing this recipe, I’ve updated it to be dairy free which means using a dairy free butter alternative. For this recipe, I usually opt for a dairy free margarine such as Smart Balance. If you’d like you could also use dairy free butter sticks, coconut oil or even shortening.
  • Chocolate chips – Make sure to double check that your chocolate chips are dairy free or plant based.

Making changes to a recipe can result in recipe failure. Any substitutions listed are simple changes that I believe will work in this recipe, but results are not guaranteed.

The following is a detailed overview of the recipe steps with added tips and tricks for recipe success. For a simplified and printable version, including ingredient amounts and more formal instructions, see the recipe card below.

How to make these no bake pretzel bites

Make the peanut butter mixture. Combine melted butter, powdered sugar, crushed pretzels and 1 cup of peanut butter into a large mixing bowl. Stir until everything is well combined then spread evenly in a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Melt the chocolate. Melt the remaining peanut butter with the chocolate chips in a microwave safe container, using 30 second increments. Remove and stir, heat for another 30 seconds repeating until chocolate chips are melted and smooth.

Layer and refrigerate. Spread melted chocolate layer over peanut butter-pretzel mixture. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until chocolate layer is firm.

Cut and serve. When ready to serve, remove dish from fridge and let stand at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes before cutting. Cut into bite sized pieces, or larger if you prefer and serve. Refrigerate leftovers.

Update: I’ve added a dairy free option in the notes of the recipe. Be sure to use dairy free chocolate and dairy free margarine or coconut oil to make this recipe dairy free.

Absolutely loving these little treats! I have some pretzel sticks in the pantry from another project a long time ago. Needless to say they desperately need to be used up. We somehow don’t eat them by themself but I can totally see them being devoured with peanut butter and chocolate. Thanks for the inspiration 🙂

I’m going to try these with rice crispies. My grandson loved them with pretzels. But sadly l don’t have anymore gluten free pretzels in the house. But I do have rice crispies. So I figured why not.

Can your pretzel bites be made with almond butter?

Yes. You can definitely use almond butter instead of peanut butter!
