This dairy free French onion dip is so easy to throw together, and it tastes just like the French onion dip you grew up on, without the sour cream. The recipe uses a combination of hummus, mayo and coconut yogurt to create that signature flavor and texture. It's also easily made vegan, by swapping in vegan mayo. I'm sure it will be on rotation in your house in no time.
- 1/2 cup store-bought plain hummus
- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (or vegan mayo)
- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons unsweetened plain coconut yogurt
- 1 packet french onion soup mix*
- 1/2 tablespoon nutritional yeast
- Chopped fresh chives (optional for garnish)
Combine ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir until smooth.
Cover and refrigerate dip for a minimum of 30 minutes to allow the onion soup mix to rehydrate and thicken the dip.
Garnish with chives before serving.
*Always double check the ingredients and look for milk ingredients to make sure this dip is dairy free.
