Thursday Things: A Bit of Color in a Gray World

What have I been up to lately? Well let me tell you… not that much. It’s finally starting to get cold and snow here in Kokshetau. I’m not 100% sure how happy I am about it. I mean I’m a huge fan of snow and the cold weather, but I feel like I’m just walking on eggshells or waiting for the other shoe to drop or holding my breath until the real cold arrives.
Of course I haven’t literally been doing nothing. We’ve figured out where to buy food and most other supplies necessary for living. We even managed to find baking supplies. This past Sunday, Marc and I finally went for a walk around town. There’s isn’t too much to see, but there’s this beautiful old Ferris wheel near the city center.  It doesn’t run anymore. Instead, it just sits there aging slowly – providing a bit of color in an otherwise gray world.
We admired it for a while, and then continued our walk around the city – stopping in a few stores to warm up our numb feet.
On a side note, we booked our Christmas trip! We’ll be spending the New Year in Phuket, Thailand and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m working on a list of things to do and eat while we’re there, but I think we’re going to spend a lot of time relaxing and toasting ourselves in the warm sun. Of course, I’d love to hear suggestions so leave them in the comments section if have any.

Thanks for featuring my truffles! I love the ferris wheel – such an unexpected thing. And the bottoms of the carts look like old bottle caps.. so neat.
That ferris wheel is gorgeous – not sure I’d trust it to lift me very high though!
Thanks for the mention of my foodie stocking fillers 🙂
