Last week we went to Powell River, British Columbia – that’s where both sides of Marc’s family are from. I thought we were just going for a visit, and to surprise Marc’s grandmother on her birthday, but it turns out it was me who was surprised. My mother-in-law had planned a surprise baby shower!

It was the nicest surprise ever. Marc’s cousin hosted, and we had a little get together and I opened some really awesome gifts for Baby Girl B. It was so great to spend some quality time with everyone, including some brand new babies.

The next day we went to surprise Marc’s grandmother for her birthday. They live on a small farm outside of Powell River, and there’s always little bears and ducks lurking around. Look at this straggly little guy. Isn’t he cute?

We all went for dinner at a new restaurant in town called Tree Frog Bistro. They had awesome food, and we were able to sit outside with and enjoy an ocean front view.

After dinner, we ended our short visit with a walk along the water while we waited for the ferry to go back to Nanaimo.
