Spicy Hoisin Burgers

Ingredients

For the burgers:

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • Salt & pepper

For the sauce:

  • 1/2 recipe spicy sushi sauce
  • 2 tablespoons diced onion
  • 2 tablespoons diced cucumber

For assembling the burgers:

  • Sliced red onion
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Sliced sweet peppers (or pickled peppers)
  • Hoisin sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill to medium-indirect heat (or a countertop grill to 400˚F).
  2. In a large bowl, combine together the ground meat, hoisin and salt & pepper. Stir together with a fork, until thoroughly mixed. Form into 6 patties, set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, stir together the sauce ingredients. Set aside.
  4. Grill the burgers for 12 – 15 minutes, turning once, until burgers reach 145˚F (about 10 minutes on the countertop grill).

To assemble the burgers:

  1. On the bottom bun, layer hoisin sauce, red onion, burger patty.
  2. Top with spicy sauce, cucumber & peppers and top bun.
