Two times a year, the cathedral here in Amiens hosts a light show – La Cathédrale en Couleurs. Right now (June – September) and during the Christmas season. Luckily, Chelsea and Mike happened to be here at just the right time, so we popped over to the cathedral the night before they left to see it.

We got there a little early, so we stopped at a nearby restaurant – Chez Lafleur – for a drink and some dessert. But, we made it back just in time to get a seat in the square before the show.
When the show starts, the whole square goes dark. Then a recording plays telling a story of the cathedral and some history of Amiens, etc. The narration was in French, but there were speakers playing the same story in English (they were a little difficult to hear, though).
As the story plays, the lights on the cathedral’s facade bring the statues and other elements to life.
I think my favorite part of the show was the cloud covering – it was pretty magical looking and totally reminded me of Harry Potter. But, the whole show was really impressive, and I highly recommend it if you’ll be in Amiens while it’s showing.
The show lasts about 45 minutes or so, and it’s something nice and relaxing to do during your visit.
