This past weekend, we went to German Fest in Milwaukee (we were in town visiting our friends). It’s an annual thing that’s held at the SummerFest grounds, and it basically celebrates German culture and heritage – and food.

There was beer. Lots of beer.

And the most amazing food – if you like German food, which I totally do.

There were potato pancakes (with applesauce, of course), bratwurst, sausages, rueben rolls, schnitzel on a stick, strudel, roasted pig head (for the cheeks), and even currywurst (not my favorite).

And, people dressed in traditional German attire – lederhosen, dirndls and alpine hats. You can even buy your own if you want at their Markt.

There was live music – several stages of it, mostly German, and the whole evening was capped off by fireworks over the water. And, I left with a bag of strudel to eat later. It was a great experience.
